Finding a school in Hong Kong shouldn’t feel like a full-time job.
The information is already public. It’s just not sorted. So I sorted it, and now you can filter by what actually matters to your child, in minutes.

School hunting in Hong Kong is overwhelming. We* fixed it.
Everything you need to compare schools side-by-side, without the headache.
Every school, not a shortlist
All 2,187 registered schools across 18 districts, kindergarten to secondary. The complete register, not somebody’s idea of the good ones.
Curriculum and language
Filter by IB, British, DSE or American streams. For kindergartens, read what the school itself says about supporting non-Chinese speaking children.
Real fees, and honest gaps
The published tuition, the free scheme places, and a plain flag where a school hasn’t published its levies or debentures.
A map of your own area
See the schools near your home or your MTR stop, with the pins grouped so Kowloon never turns into a mess.
How it works
The 4 stages every Hong Kong parent goes through, and what I built for each one.
All 2,187 schools, cut down to your bit of Hong Kong
Pick your district, or the station you’d be travelling from. You’ll see every school near it, with the pins grouped so they don’t sit on top of each other.
18 districts
Narrow it to your own neighbourhood, or to walking distance from a station.

The bit that’s stuck in someone else’s group chat
You already know the most helpful people: parents who have been through this, and staff at the schools. Their knowledge and stories deserve to be searchable, not scattered across WhatsApp groups and hidden in Facebook threads. I’m gathering what real families know, with their permission, so everyone can find it in one place.
Parent and staff reviews
What a school is actually like, from families whose kids go there and the staff who work there. Not the prospectus, a normal Tuesday. The thing that usually only moves in private group chats, in one place you can search.
Guides and explainers
Plain-English walk-throughs of every admission route: kindergarten, POA, DSS, private and international. Plus the whole Hong Kong system explained, for anyone who just got here.
Have ideas, want to collaborate, or curious how this was built with AI?
I built HKSchoolPal from scratch with AI tools and no coding background. If you want to collaborate, tell me what’s wrong with it, or find out how it was built, do say hello.
Why I’m building HKSchoolPal
I’m Kanwal. I’m a social scientist, a mum of 2, and I have no technical background at all. But when I have a problem, I solve it.
At 7 months pregnant, I went looking for a full-day kindergarten place for my son. I had no time and far too much information: untranslated government forms, contradictory advice in mums’ WhatsApp and Facebook groups, and no way to tell which numbers were true. I read everything and decided nothing.
I was lucky. I had a well-informed friend who had already done all the research for her own kids, and who was generous enough to hold my hand through it.
Nobody should need an insider just to find a school for their kid. And no family should feel shut out because they don’t speak Cantonese or have $200,000 to spend on debentures.
When I started playing with AI in June 2026, I realised I could build that friend, for every parent as overwhelmed as I’d been. Everyone deserves a Pal like mine, and so I built HKSchoolPal for you.
